Landscaping
Landscaping in Bernardsville, Basking Ridge and the Somerset Hills
Most properties around here have a mowing guy, a bug guy and someone for the shrubs, and none of them talk to each other. Botti Home Services does all of it, so the beds get mulched the week after the cleanup and the hedges get trimmed the same day the lawn is cut.
Landscaping on this page means the recurring work that keeps a property looking kept, and the one time projects that change it. The recurring side runs on a schedule you do not have to think about. The projects get quoted after we have walked the yard with you, because a patio in Far Hills clay and a patio in Bedminster gravel are not the same job.
Recurring work
- Weekly mowing, trimming and edging on a set day
- Mulch and bed edging once a year, kept off the stems
- Spring cleanup, beds cleared, first edge, first cut
- Fall cleanup, leaves off the lawn before the snow
- Tree and hedge trimming at the right month for each plant
- Planting of new beds, shrubs and trees
Spring and fall cleanups
The spring cleanup takes the winter off the property: beds cleared, leaves out of the corners, the first edge cut, dead growth pruned, and the first mow. The fall cleanup takes the leaves off before the snow, which matters for the lawn as much as the look, since a blanket of oak leaves smothers grass over winter. Both are scheduled, both come with a text when they are done.
Mulch and beds
Fresh mulch once a year, two to three inches, kept off the trunks and stems. Beds edged with a clean spade cut or a steel edge that holds the line. New beds designed and planted where the property wants them. The plants that go in are chosen for this climate and the amount of sun the spot actually gets, and they get looked after under the plant and shrub program.
Patios, walkways and retaining walls
Bluestone, pavers and natural stone, set on a properly compacted base so the surface is still flat after five New Jersey winters. Retaining walls for slopes, beds and driveway edges. Walkways from the drive to the door. Daniel Botti, a master tradesman for 20 years, is on the hardscape work, and the two of them quote it together after a walk through. No number before anyone has seen the site.
Landscaping pairs with the lawn services and the home improvement side of the business, so the pressure washing, the deck and the fence can all go on the same quote as the mulch.

DetailsWhere we work.
Based in Bernardsville. The Somerset Hills and the Morris County towns around it, about 20 minutes out. Close by and not on the list? Ask.
Quick answers.
Do you mow weekly?
Yes, on a set day. Trimming and edging are part of the visit.
When should mulch go down?
Late April into May, after the spring cleanup and once the beds have warmed up.
Do you build patios?
Yes. Bluestone, pavers and natural stone on a compacted base, plus walkways and retaining walls. Quoted after a site walk.
Can landscaping go on the same bill as lawn care?
That is the point. One quote, one schedule, one bill for everything on the property.
